Criminal Appeals

Our attorneys all have extensive experience in challenging criminal convictions through the appellate process. After a conviction, all criminal defendants have an opportunity to file an appeal challenging the rulings made during the court case. This will almost always be an extremely critical point in your case if you are convicted after trial. A criminal appeal requires an attorney to review the entire record from your trial and any other court proceedings, and to identify and research all potential legal issues. Once the record is reviewed, the attorney files a brief with the Appellate or Supreme Court, which the government will respond to with their own brief. After the attorney files a reply brief on your behalf, the Court will hear oral argument from the attorney about your case. After your appeal is heard by the Court, and the Court issues a decision, you will potentially have the opportunity to ask a higher court to take on your case for further review. Koch, Garg & Brown will review all of your legal options with you at every stage of your appeal and will be committed to applying their vast appellate experience to the best possible outcome in your case.
