Abigail Mason is an associate attorney with Koch, Garg & Brown, focusing primarily in the areas of criminal defense and post-conviction relief. Abby has a B.A. in history and psychology, with a minor in philosophy, from the University of Virginia. She earned her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2022, graduating summa cum laude, where she served on the Quinnipiac Law Review. While in law school, Abby worked with the Quinnipiac Law Prison Project, which focused on providing education programs in prisons and researching restorative justice. Upon graduation, Abby received numerous awards including the National Association of Women Lawyers Award, Superior Classroom Performance Award, Excellence in Clinical Legal Education Award, Service to the Law School Award, Academic Excellence Award for being in the top 10% of her class, and the Outstanding Legal Scholarship Award for her publication in the Arizona State Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law Journal for Social Justice. She also received a certificate for academic concentration in Criminal Law & Advocacy with honors.

Prior to joining Koch, Garg and Brown, Abby interned with the New Haven Public Defenders’ Office, the Office of the Federal Defender for the District of Connecticut and the Southern District of Ohio-Capital Habeas Unit, the Connecticut Innocence Project/Post-Conviction Unit, and the Civil Justice Clinic at the Quinnipiac University School of Law where she worked on prisoners’ rights cases and pardon applications. Abby also interned in the probate law field, preparing families and juvenile witnesses for guardianship and conservatorship hearings.

In her spare time, Abby enjoys live music, cooking and spending time with her friends and family. Abby was also elected as the first Treasurer of the Connecticut Women’s Criminal Defense Lawyers, Inc. in 2023.
