Kelsey Alafriz is an associate attorney with Koch, Garg & Brown, practicing primarily in the areas of habeas corpus law and criminal defense. Kelsey has a B.A. in psychology and minored in philosophy and communications at Fairfield University. She earned her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2018, graduating magna cum laude, where she served on the Quinnipiac Law Review.

Kelsey is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association as well as the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She is admitted to the practice of law in Connecticut.

Prior to joining Koch, Garg and Brown, Kelsey practiced law at a special habeas firm where she managed a heavy caseload of habeas petitions, sentence modification matters, and multiple actual innocence cases. Kelsey successfully tried her first habeas case, where the Court found that her client’s equal protection rights were violated during the sentencing hearing. Following that trial, Kelsey effectively advocated for a sentence reduction for that client, in addition to eliminating his mandatory minimum sentence. In addition to her prior habeas corpus practice, Kelsey also worked at several other area law firms throughout her law school career and clerked at the Waterbury Superior Court following graduation.

In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys reading, traveling, cooking and playing soccer. She lives with her husband and puppy in Woodbridge.
