Michael Brown is a founding partner at Koch, Garg & Brown, focusing mainly on criminal defense, habeas corpus law, appellate litigation, and civil litigation, in both state and federal courts. Mike graduated from the University of Connecticut, with a B.A. in Political Science and earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota School of Law in 2011.

Prior to returning to Connecticut to practice criminal law in 2014, Mike spent several years practicing labor law and plaintiff class action litigation in Washington, D.C. Upon returning to Connecticut, Mike practiced in a number of small criminal defense firms, representing individuals accused of serious crimes in the trial courts, on appeal, and in post-conviction collateral proceedings.

Mike has been heavily involved in the evolution of the law of juvenile sentencing in Connecticut, after several critical decisions of the United States Supreme Court. Mike has successfully advocated for numerous clients, convicted of the most serious offenses, in obtaining parole. He also trains other attorneys on parole issues and has argued several juvenile sentencing matters before the Connecticut Supreme Court.

Mike lives in Wethersfield with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys several hobbies including weight training, playing and watching sports, collecting sports memorabilia, and playing card games.
